Job summary

Sofar Ocean is seeking a full-stack software engineer to contribute to cloud-based applications on the Spotter team. You will own features across the stack, collaborating with hardware and firmware engineers to ship the Spotter suite and APIs that interface with our sensing systems.

The role emphasizes building performant web applications using React, TypeScript, Express, and Postgres, with onsite work at Pier 28 for at least 3 days per week in San Francisco.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience in modern cloud environments.
• Significant professional experience with Typescript, React, & Postgres.
• Owned the full lifecycle of features from conception through deployment and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Own features across the stack from data storage to UIs.
• Collaborate with frontend, backend, hardware, and firmware teams to ship cohesive product features.
• Architect scalable solutions and drive CI/CD, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Mentor peers through code reviews and collaborative design sessions.
