Stratiform Digital seeks a self-directed Senior Full Stack Engineer to migrate a legacy Java/Angular monolith to Node.js microservices on AWS. The role emphasizes preserving functionality, moving backend to Node.js, and splitting it into its own service for parity on a cleaner foundation.

The ideal candidate combines deep Java experience with modern Node.js services, strong SQL background, and initiative to drive the migration with AWS expertise.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of full-stack engineering experience with Java and Node.js.
• Direct experience contributing to monolith-to-microservices migration in production.
• Highly self-directed with strong independent decision-making.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; Angular experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assess and decompose a monolithic Java Spring Boot app into Node.js microservices on AWS.
• Read, reason about, and refactor Java code to untangle business logic and persistence.
• Build production-grade Node.js/TypeScript microservices with RESTful APIs and data access layers.
• Write and maintain test suites (unit, integration, acceptance) using Playwright.
• Collaborate on AWS architecture and CI/CD improvements; follow GitHub Actions standards.
• Work with PostgreSQL on Aurora at production scale; design schemas and migrations.
• Document architecture decisions and data flows for long-term maintainability.
