Job summary

McKesson Corporation’s Ontada Engineering team is hiring a Software Engineer III (P3) to design and build well-scoped core services, with a backend-first focus on Java and Spring Boot. You will develop APIs, event-driven integrations using Kafka, and frontend layers in React/TypeScript to enable end-to-end clinical workflows.

The role emphasizes reusable services, strong documentation, and collaboration with senior engineers to deliver scalable platform capabilities used by clinical domain teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement well-scoped backend services and shared components using Java and Spring Boot following established architectural patterns
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs with clear contracts, consistent error handling, and comprehensive documentation for easy domain team adoption
• Implement event-driven integrations using Kafka to connect clinical workflows across services
• Build frontend integration layers, admin UIs, and enablement interfaces using React and TypeScript to expose platform capabilities to end users and domain teams
• Write production-quality code against Oracle databases using JPA/Hibernate, focusing on query performance, transaction management, and data integrity
• Collaborate with domain teams to understand integration needs and adapt platform services for rapid application development
• Adopt platform conventions for API versioning, event contracts, data handling, error taxonomy, and security standards
