Job summary

CGI seeks a senior software developer in Fairfax, VA to design and build modern service-based web apps for a large government agency. You’ll work on a cloud-first stack with Open Source tech, within a hybrid CGI Federal environment.

You’ll lead, mentor, and contribute to cloud-native architectures on AWS, with emphasis on CI/CD, automated testing, and robust API design to deliver high-quality software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
• 7+ years hands-on Java development experience including Spring Boot and REST APIs.
• Frontend development including TypeScript, HTML, CSS, Angular (v14+).
• Designing and developing Spring Boot microservices deployed on AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, RDS).
• Experience with PostgreSQL and schema design, query optimization, and Flyway migrations.
• Experience with Apache Kafka or similar event streaming platforms.
• CI/CD tooling experience (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, SonarQube).
• API development and security best practices (OAuth 2.0, TLS, PKI, JWT).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in an Agile setting to research best practices, design and develop application architecture, mentor teammates, and deliver solutions.
• Contribute to modern cloud-native applications built with Angular and Java/Spring Boot.
• Work with users and product managers to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop microservices architectures and deploy solutions to AWS cloud environments.
• Write clean, well-organized code following best practices and share knowledge with the team.
• Participate in all phases of the SDLC, including estimation, design, coding, reviews, and testing.
• Author and review frontend and backend code leveraging AI-assisted paired programming techniques.
• Deploy and manage applications on AWS using containers and CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop and consume RESTful APIs and optimize data access with PostgreSQL.
