Job summary

Forerunner is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer with 5+ years of product engineering experience to join our Core Platform team. You will build features supporting real-time flood risk visuals and automated permit workflows for government users on the frontlines of climate adaptation.

You’ll work across the stack using TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL with PostGIS, and AWS. You’ll own end-to-end features from database modeling to UI, while collaborating with government partners and a small,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and shipping features that real users depend on.
• Strong SQL and database design instincts.
• Full-stack across backend to frontend with TypeScript/React.
• Experience mentoring teammates and leading by example.
• Thrives in ambiguous startup environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, testing frameworks, and tooling.
• Bonus: AWS, PostGIS, ETL, or government/climate tech.

Responsibilities

• Gather feedback from users and stakeholders to shape what gets built.
• Drive projects from ambiguity to delivery with smart tradeoffs.
• Work with AI-assisted development tools and plan complex features.
• Own features from database models to pixel-perfect UI, end-to-end.
• Ship new capabilities while improving system performance and reliability.
• Own what you ship with an on-call rotation and meaningful alerts.
• Help raise engineering standards and mentor teammates.
