Job summary

Relae, formerly Carbon Direct, is hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our engineering team. This fully remote role within the US focuses on building features across the stack, from services to user interfaces, with ownership of problems from day one.

You will work with geospatial, tabular, and vector data via data pipelines, ETL processes, and cross-functional collaboration to ship reliable software and continuously improve performance and quality.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering features across the full stack.
• Experience with ETL, data pipelines, and data stores.
• Proficiency in at least one server stack and one frontend framework.
• Comfort with cloud-hosted SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Strong communication and documentation habits.
• Genuine interest in climate, clean energy, and sustainability.
• Hands-on experience with AI or agentic development tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship features across the stack.
• Work with data pipelines to move and transform data.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to scope software and make tradeoffs.
• Write clean, tested code and review teammates' work.
• Diagnose and resolve performance, reliability, and quality issues.
• Contribute to system design decisions as the team grows.
• Use AI tooling to speed up development where appropriate.
