Job summary

Toast is seeking a true fullstack builder for its New Ventures team. You’ll work across backend services, APIs, data models, a React front end, and our Android point‑of‑sale apps. Prior Kotlin isn’t required, but the ability to learn a new platform quickly is expected.

You’ll collaborate with a small cross‑functional team, own code quality, testing, instrumentation, on‑call, and leverage AI tools to accelerate delivery. Location options include remote or hybrid in US markets.

Qualifications

• Shipping meaningful product to real users with clear technical and business impact.
• Fullstack range: owned features from backend to client with strong opinions on both ends.
• Solid backend fundamentals: distributed systems, asynchronous communication, APIs, integration patterns.
• Comfort with modern web frontend development (React) and usable UI design.
• Proven ability to learn new languages/frameworks on the job and ship production code.
• Deliver clean, maintainable, resilient code that stands the test of time.
• Experience in 0→1 builds and adapting to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Build end-to-end across the stack — backend services, APIs and data models, web front ends, and our Android apps.
• Get up to speed on unfamiliar platforms and codebases quickly, including Android/Kotlin.
• Be customer-oriented and product-minded, with opinions on what to build.
• Collaborate with a small cross-functional team to ship features fast to customers.
• Navigate diverse codebases across the Toast platform and deliver high-quality code on timeline.
• Demonstrate ownership in testing, instrumentation, on-call, and cleanup.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate development and improve productivity across the team.
