Job summary

NOIRLab's Education and Public Outreach team seeks a Senior Fullstack Engineer to lead modern, visualization-rich web applications and data-driven experiences that connect learners with the cosmos.

You will architect and deliver projects from classroom investigations to public-facing sites, collaborating with designers, scientists and engineers to ship performant, accessible software using a React/Next.js stack on Google Cloud.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience with leadership on multiple projects.
• Proven experience with React (5+ years) and React Server Components/Next.js.
• Strong knowledge of TypeScript, GraphQL, REST APIs and browser performance.
• Experience building modern, interactive data visualizations in the browser.
• Experience with Python backend services and APIs.
• Familiarity with Craft CMS and content management systems.
• Git, GitHub Actions and CI/CD workflows.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the full-stack implementation of EPO web products.
• Lead frontend development of new features from concept to release, including UX scope and testing.
• Drive frontend architecture and contribute to strategic technical direction.
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to implement accessible, user-friendly designs.
• Build interactive tools and data visualizations communicating complex data to non-experts.
• Identify and address tech debt and performance optimization opportunities.
