Job summary

Protagonist is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer (AI Platform) to own production systems end-to-end—from backend services to analyst-facing applications—and to apply modern AI capabilities within a robust software platform.

You’ll be a strong full‑stack engineer with Python/Django, TypeScript/React, and experience building LLM-powered apps, AWS Bedrock, OpenSearch, and Kubernetes in production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field with relevant work experience.
• 5+ years building production software with ownership of full-stack systems.
• Expert-level Python with deep Django and PostgreSQL experience.
• Strong TypeScript/React skills for complex, data-heavy interfaces.
• Experience building LLM applications: agents, tool calling, RAG, prompt engineering, and evaluation against hosted model APIs.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end across the platform: Django REST APIs and data models, React/TypeScript UI, pipelines, and LLM services.
• Partner with leadership on architecture and roadmap; translate product vision into designs.
• Build LLM-powered systems on AWS Bedrock and manage cost/usage controls.
• Develop data and ML workflows orchestrated on Metaflow/Argo/Kubernetes for scalable processing.
• Design for the whole system: PostgreSQL schema, OpenSearch indexing, event-driven processing.
• Collaborate with the customer-facing team to meet client needs.
• Work in agile sprints with the engineering team and make informed decisions.
