Job description

Worthy is an AI native debt resolution company that negotiates settlements on behalf of consumers. Our mission is to give every consumer struggling with debt a fair and affordable path back to financial stability.

We operate a consumer app (web and mobile), an API for consumer fintech applications to embed debt resolution, and an AI-powered negotiation engine that automates work that used to take rooms of human negotiators.

This industry has a long history of scams and predatory practices. We built Worthy to be the opposite: compliant, transparent, and accountable in every state we operate in.

This technology stack lets us offer debt settlement services at a 2.5–3x lower price than legacy providers, while negotiating faster and more consistently than manual, phone-based processes. Our AI has already negotiated $2.6M in debt, and we’re just getting started against a $65B market of debt in collections.

We’re hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to be the person who takes a problem from “the CEO described it in two sentences” to “it’s in production and we can see it working.” There is no backend team to hand things to — you’ll pick up whichever layer the problem lives in, across the API, the web apps, mobile, and the infrastructure underneath.

You’ll also build the systems that make a four-person team move like a bigger one. 100% of our code is now written with AI, and we’re pushing further: agents that triage errors, open fix PRs, run our QA suite, audit our dependencies, and handle the recurring engineering work that would otherwise consume a headcount. Extending that toolchain isn’t a side project here, it’s a core part of the job.

Key responsibilities

• Ship features end to end across the stack: Django REST API, Next.js consumer and admin apps, React Native mobile app, and the AWS infrastructure under all of it
• Build and maintain the agents that do our operational engineering work — incident triage, automated fix PRs, test authoring and execution, security and compliance audits, dependency upgrades
• Develop LLM-powered product surfaces (negotiation agents, conversational onboarding) along with the eval and observability tooling that keeps them honest
• Own Terraform-managed AWS infrastructure and the GitHub Actions pipelines that deploy to it
• Scope work directly with the CEO from loose requirements, then drive it to shipped, adopted, and stable
• Operate what you ship — watch it in production via Sentry, Logfire, and PostHog, and fix what you find

What we’re looking for

• Senior, and genuinely full stack. You’ve shipped and operated production systems end to end. You don’t need to be an expert in every layer on day one, but you should be someone who has repeatedly gone and learned the layer the problem was in.
• Comfortable with loose requirements. You’ll often get a problem and a constraint, not a spec. You convert that into a plan, ask the two questions that actually matter, and start building.
• A finisher. You can drive a project from a vague idea to shipped and stable — including the unglamorous last 20%.
• AI-pilled, concretely. You’re already building with agents, not just autocompleting with them. You have opinions about what to hand to a model, how to verify its output, and where the leverage actually is. We’ll ask what you’ve automated.
• Strong judgment about risk. We handle sensitive financial data for people who can’t afford for us to get it wrong. You know which corners are safe to cut and which aren’t.

Nice to have

• Experience shipping and maintaining a React Native app in both app stores
• Background building LLM evals or agent observability

How we work

• You report directly to the CEO, who is readily available — when you need a decision or want to think something through, you get it then, not at the next scheduled review.
• Most collaboration is synchronous and fast; a few hours of shared afternoon isn’t enough.
• Small team, wide surface area, no ticket queue. High autonomy is the compensation for high ambiguity.
