Job summary

Halda is searching for an experienced software engineer to drive technical leadership and architecture decisions as they scale. The role involves building and shipping features across various technologies including Ruby on Rails and React, while leveraging AI coding agents.

The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in software development, proficiency in backend frameworks, and a solid understanding of cloud platforms like AWS. Additional responsibilities include mentoring others and maintaining code quality.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and drive architecture decisions as we scale
• Build, test, and ship features across the full stack (Ruby on Rails, React, Python, Go)
• Leverage AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.) to accelerate development
• Drive technical spec review and ensure architectural consistency across the codebase
• Review and refine AI-generated product specs for technical accuracy
• Lead code reviews and maintain high code quality standards
• Participate in customer problem discovery and validation interviews
• Manage CI/CD pipelines using ECS on AWS and GitHub Actions
• Mentor and uplevel other engineers on the team

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience building a SaaS product
• Proficiency in a backend framework (Rails, Node, Phoenix, Spring, etc.) and a frontend framework (React, Vue, etc.)
• Database proficiency — schema design, migrations, and performant SQL
• Experience with automated testing (Minitest, Jest, Cypress, etc.)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience developing with AI coding agent harnesses (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.)
• Track record of mentoring engineers and driving technical decisions

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in CS or equivalent technical discipline
• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails and TypeScript/React
• Experience with Tailwind CSS
• Experience with data pipelines and analytics products
• Experience scaling backend and frontend infrastructure
• Experience leading technical projects end-to-end across multiple engineers
