Job summary

Gong is hiring an experienced software engineer in New York to design and build end-to-end features across backend and frontend using Java and React. You will own projects from architecture to deployment, collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver scalable solutions that solve real customer problems.

Responsibilities include building microservice-based cloud systems, optimizing performance, and participating in CXE initiatives to reduce support needs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend development experience with Java.
• 1+ year frontend experience with React.

We're looking for an experienced full-stack engineer who's excited to solve complex technical problems, build end-to-end solutions, and turn real customer pain points into impactful products and tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and build end-to-end product features across the backend and frontend, developing scalable and reliable services and APIs using Java and user experiences using React
• Own technical projects from start to finish - architecture, development, deployment, and ongoing improvements
• Collaborate with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Engineers to deliver features that solve real customer problems
• Work as part of the Customer Experience Engineering (CXE) team to identify recurring customer and Support pain points, and build tools, automation, and product improvements that enable self-service and reduce support effort

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience, with deep expertise in Java
• 1+ year of professional experience building frontend applications with React
• Proven ability to solve complex problems, debug efficiently, and build high-quality systems
• Experience designing and running cloud-based services (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including microservices architectures
• Bonus points for experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, or data-driven APIs
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach - you enjoy working across teams and are passionate about solving real customer pain points
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)

The annual salary hiring range for this position is $168,000 - $205,000 USD.

Compensation is based on factors unique to each candidate, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, qualification, education, experience, and location. At Gong, we have a location-based compensation structure, which means there may be a different range for candidates in other locations. The total compensation package for this position, in addition to base compensation, may include incentive compensation, bonus, equity, and benefits. Some of our sales compensation programs also offer the potential to achieve above targeted earnings for those who exceed their sales targets.
