Expedia Group in Seattle is seeking a Software Development Engineer III to design, develop, and deliver robust, scalable services across the full software lifecycle. You will own low‑level design, API contracts, and data models, ensuring reliability and clean integration with other systems.

You will collaborate with product, architecture, and engineering teams, drive best practices for observability and security, and safely integrate AI/ML‑enabled features to improve traveler experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• Several years of professional software development experience building and operating production services or applications.
• Proven experience owning the design and implementation of services or components, including low-level system design, API design, and data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver robust, scalable services and applications by writing high‑quality, maintainable code and tests across the full software development lifecycle.
• Own and evolve low‑level design, API contracts, and data models for services within your domain, ensuring reliability, performance, and clear integration patterns with other systems.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and peer engineering teams to break down complex business and technical problems into actionable plans and incremental deliverables.
• Drive and uphold engineering best practices for code quality, observability, operational readiness, and security, including participating in design reviews, code reviews, and on‑call rotations as needed.
• Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.
