Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation is seeking a Senior Fuels Tax Auditor to apply tax laws, review financial records, and conduct compliance audits. You will develop audit plans, prepare reports, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with internal and external customers.

The role requires in-state travel and offers a hybrid work model after training completion. Join the Fuels Tax Group in Salem to support multimodal transportation as part of the Finance & Budget Division.

Qualifications

• Six years of experience in tax auditing or related fields and 32 credit hours in accounting or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree can substitute for up to three years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Create an audit program to identify case specific issues.
• Perform office and field audits with or without others.
• Review prior audit files, tax payment history and licensee communications to determine audit level.
• Perform audit procedures to verify compliance with fuels tax law.
• Prepare written audit reports and recommendations for improvement.
• Review the work of other auditors.
• Travel may be required; assist customers with licensing, accounting or reporting.
