Job summary

Impulsespace in Redondo Beach is hiring a Senior Pointing, Acquisition, & Tracking Controls Engineer to develop the pointing subsystem for FSO laser communication terminals. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in control systems, optics, and experience working on precision systems.

This role involves significant collaboration with optical and photonics teams to integrate designs effectively. The compensation ranges from $150,000 to $180,000 per year, alongside potential stock options and benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with pointing, tracking, or guidance/control systems.
• Experience designing feedback control loops for high-precision systems.
• Understanding of optical pointing mechanisms and pointing errors.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end architecture for the FSO system to achieve sub-µrad pointing stability.
• Design and implement algorithms for rapid transmitter acquisition.
• Conduct Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) Testing for PAT performance.
