Impulse Space in Redondo Beach is seeking a Senior Electro-Optical Engineer to own the development of flight camera systems and optical payloads from architecture through test and flight.

You will work across optics, embedded software, avionics, mechanics, thermal and test to deliver high‑performance flight systems on aggressive timelines. This is a high-autonomy role with opportunities for technical leadership and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Optical/Electrical/Physics/Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical development of flight camera systems and optical payloads from concept through flight.
• Define requirements, drive architecture trades, and decide on optics, detectors, interfaces, and calibration strategies.
• Coordinate with embedded software, avionics, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing and test teams to mature hardware.
• Lead subsystem integration, test planning, issue resolution, and performance closure for electro‑optical flight hardware.
• Drive execution with high autonomy, manage risks, prioritize work, and coordinate with vendors and leadership.
