Job summary

Scale AI is seeking a Staff Frontier Agent Engineer to architect, deploy, and operate production AI systems for strategic enterprise customers. You’ll combine software engineering, distributed systems, cloud infra, and frontier AI to transform cutting-edge models into reliable enterprise software.

In this role you’ll design agent runtimes, orchestrate pipelines, ensure security/compliance, and shape engineering best practices for scalable AI at scale.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with distributed systems and design.
• Strong Python programming skills for production software.
• Experience building or deploying AI-powered apps using LLM APIs and vector databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern production infra.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and communicate with enterprise teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deploy production AI systems integrated into complex enterprise environments.
• Design scalable agent architectures combining LLMs, memory, tools, and enterprise data.
• Build integrations with customer systems ensuring security, governance, and compliance.
• Prototype new AI capabilities and evolve prototypes to production.
• Lead architecture discussions and guide deployment and observability best practices.
