Job summary

Scale AI is seeking a Staff Frontier Agent Engineer to bridge cutting-edge AI research and production deployments for enterprise customers. You will design and deploy production AI agents that combine frontier models with structured knowledge, retrieval, memory, and enterprise software.

You will work across a portfolio of AI challenges spanning industries, building multi-agent systems and translating research into scalable customer solutions, with a focus on measurable business impact and robust

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering, machine learning, or applied AI experience.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Experience building production AI systems using LLMs.
• Experience with modern AI tooling including OpenAI, Claude, MCP, agent frameworks, vector databases, or retrieval systems.
• Strong understanding of ML fundamentals and modern language models.
• Experience designing or evaluating AI systems using quantitative metrics.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with enterprise customers.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy production AI agents that leverage LLMs, retrieval, memory, and tool use.
• Architect intelligent systems combining LLMs, traditional ML, structured knowledge, and enterprise data.
• Develop memory systems and knowledge representations for agent reasoning.
• Build multi-agent systems coordinating reasoning, planning, tool execution, and human oversight.
• Translate frontier AI research into production systems by evaluating new models and techniques.
