Job summary

Handshake is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Frontend Platform in San Francisco. You will own and evolve the design system, build reusable TypeScript/React components, and improve the developer experience across Handshake applications.

You will work on AI-enabled frontend workflows, accessibility, and cross-team collaboration to deliver scalable frontend solutions. You will partner with product, design, and platform teams to define durable APIs and architectures, mentor teammates, and

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of professional frontend development experience.
Expertise in TypeScript, React, and the modern frontend ecosystem.
Experience building reusable frontend libraries and design systems.
Experience collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Build and evolve reusable TypeScript and React components, patterns, APIs, documentation, and tooling that are used across Handshake applications.
Shape the design system as a living product, balancing consistency and accessibility with flexibility for product teams.
Improve the frontend developer experience with clear paths for local development, testing, builds, releases, and maintenance.
Incorporate AI tools into the day-to-day engineering workflow while applying sound judgment.
Build reusable AI-enabled frontend workflows for the organization, including documentation and accessibility checks.
Strengthen frontend infrastructure in CI/CD, including build, test, lint, and packaging workflows.
Make accessibility a built-in capability through APIs, guidance, automated checks, and collaboration with product teams.
Own or contribute to cross-cutting frontend capabilities across applications and teams.
Partner with product engineers, designers, PMs, and other platform teams to drive adoption of shared solutions.
Lead projects from problem definition through implementation, rollout, and iteration.
Raise the bar for frontend engineering through reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
