Job summary

BurnBot is seeking a senior front-end engineer to own the operator interface used on live burns. You’ll design mission planning, mapping, alarms, and fleet tooling for field crews in South San Francisco.

Bring 5+ years of production front-end work with TypeScript/React, and experience with Mapbox/Leaflet/deck.gl. You’ll work onsite and occasionally in the field, shaping a safety-critical UI used in real-world operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production front-end software with TypeScript and React.
• Experience with mapping and geospatial UI (Mapbox/Leaflet/deck.gl).
• Strong design sense and ability to translate vague needs into usable interfaces.
• Solid testing discipline for safety-critical software near fire.
• Willingness to work with operators in the field and observe interface failures.

Responsibilities

• Own the operator interface: telemetry, video, machine state, and controls.
• Design mission planning and mapping tools for boundary drawing and plans.
• Develop alarms and alerts, and determine interruption workflows.
• Contribute to the UX design process with sketches and the built product.
• Maintain a design system as the fleet and team grow.
