Job summary

Firehouse Subs is seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, architecture, and delivery of scalable digital solutions for guest engagement and franchise operations. The role balances daily production coding (50-70%), architectural leadership, and mentoring engineers to raise overall team capability.

You will collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and Brand leadership to drive modernization of the tech stack, improve performance, and ensure reliable, secure deployments

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including leading complex technical initiatives.
• Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
• Experience with GraphQL (Apollo Federation preferred).
• Cloud expertise, preferably AWS, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver robust technical solutions for guest-facing and franchisee-facing features.
• Lead architecture and system design decisions with ADRs.
• Contribute production code across React, Node.js, TypeScript.
• Improve performance and scalability for high-traffic services.
• Enhance CI/CD pipelines, automation, and developer experience.
• Mentor engineers and elevate code quality through reviews.
• Lead feature development from concept to deployment.
• Implement strong observability and incident triage with Datadog.
• Collaborate with Product/Data/Brand to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Modernize legacy systems toward cloud-native architectures.
• Champion testing (unit/integration/e2e).
