Job summary

Karoo Health is seeking a hands-on Senior Frontend Engineer to own frontend architecture and UX for its cardiovascular health platform. You will design, build, and maintain complex web apps from the ground up in close collaboration with product and backend teams.

The role requires autonomy, production discipline, and a strong ownership mindset as you implement modern, accessible interfaces and robust client‑side state and data fetching with strict timezone handling (TZ=America/New_York).

Qualifications

• Deep mastery of React hooks, context, and custom client‑side state solutions without Redux or similar libraries.
• Expert TypeScript with advanced generics and strict type-safety.
• Experience building client‑side fetching engines with cancellation, caching, and error handling.
• Practical accessibility implementation including live regions, focus trapping, and keyboard navigation.
• Extensive testing with Vitest and React Testing Library focusing on accessible roles.
• Experience building UI primitives with Tailwind CSS and design tokens.
• Strong understanding of date/timezone handling (TZ=America/New_York).
• Awareness of PHI/HIPAA data privacy on the client side.

Responsibilities

• Architect state and data fetching for client‑side apps without heavy external libraries.
• Maintain high-fidelity UI and production design systems using React 18 and Tailwind CSS.
• Develop complex clinical workflows with multi‑section forms, validation, and proper timezone handling.
• Enforce accessibility with focus management, ARIA, and live regions; maintain high test coverage.
• Protect patient privacy by keeping logs and analytics free of PHI data; collaborate across stacks (Python/FastAPI).
• Collaborate across teams to align API contracts with backend code and implement router-level authorization.
