Job summary

ALSO is an electric mobility company focused on creating new, affordable, and efficient small EVs. We are building a connected e-bike brand online with a greenfield frontend that blends design, commerce, and engineering.

Senior Frontend Engineer, Design Systems & Commerce, will own critical storefront surfaces, extend our design system, and partner with Creative and UX to ship pages quickly and reliably. This role blends frontend craftsmanship with product and brand impact.

Qualifications

• Strong Shopify experience with Liquid, Online Store 2.0, and theme tooling.
• Experience building for multi-product brands and catalogs across hard goods, apparel, accessories, parts, merch.
• Proven execution across seasonal campaigns and multi-campaign launches without template sprawl.
• Experience building or extending a design system with a component library and tokens.
• Expert frontend skills: JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS architecture, modern framework (React or equivalent).
• Deep understanding of faceted navigation, color/variant presentation, and conversion impact.
• Prioritize performance and accessibility as defaults (Core Web Vitals, WCAG 2.1 AA).
• Able to work autonomously with ambiguous creative direction and collaborate with Creative and backend teams.
• 6+ years frontend engineering, including 3+ years on commerce storefronts.
• Bonus: familiarity with Shopify Dev tools, Headless Shopify concepts, and related ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Build the frontend of ALSO storefront pages: product, collection, and category; expand seasonal pages.
• Extend and steward the design system: grow components, tokens, and page patterns.
• Architect Shopify theme sections, blocks, metafields, and metaobjects for self-serve content changes.
• Collaborate with creative and UX: translate ideas into shipped pages and make informed trade-offs.
• Own merchandising surfaces: category pages, filtering, sort, colorways, cross-sells, and bundles.
• Support campaigns across product lines with scheduling and controlled launches.
• Maintain high quality: Core Web Vitals, accessibility, cross-browser compatibility, analytics instrumentation.
• Coordinate with backend engineers on data contracts and system integration.
