Job summary

Koniag Government Services seeks a Senior Front-End Developer & UX Designer to support a federal modernization effort for a DOI client. You will design intuitive interfaces and build them in a Microsoft Power Apps/Azure environment, translating wireframes into production-ready front-ends.

The role blends UX strategy with hands-on development, requiring strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills and expertise in the Power Platform.

Qualifications

8–10 years in front-end software development or UI/UX design
At least 3 years working inside the Microsoft Power Platform ecosystem
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Advanced hands-on experience building custom, high-fidelity applications inside Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate
Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS/SASS
Experience with modern prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe XD)
Proven experience building compliant, accessible interfaces for federal or public sector applications
Ability to clear a federal background investigation to obtain a DOI Public Trust clearance
Preferred: experience with the Department of the Interior or other federal agencies; dashboards/AI data displays; Microsoft certifications

Responsibilities

Lead UX/UI research and discovery sessions with DOI stakeholders and map user journeys
Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes to visualize complex data structures and AI-driven workflows
Establish design consistency and accessibility guidelines across all contract products
Build front-ends using Power Apps (Canvas/Model-Driven), PCF controls, and Power Automate workflows
Extend low-code platforms with HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript to deliver premium interfaces
Collaborate with data developers to bind Azure SQL data and AI endpoints to the front-end
Ensure all designs and interfaces comply with federal Section 508 accessibility standards
