Job summary

SAIC is seeking a skilled Front-End Specialist to design accessible, high-performing user interfaces for Congress and the public. You will apply React or Angular, HTML5, CSS3, and REST/JSON APIs to deliver responsive experiences that meet Section 508 and WCAG requirements.

You will develop Drupal themes, build reusable components, collaborate with back-end and QA teams, and mentor junior developers while adhering to SOPs and security practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of front-end or UI development experience.
• Expert proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+).
• Strong experience with React and/or Angular, including state management and API integration.
• Experience building and consuming REST/JSON APIs.
• Experience with responsive design, CSS preprocessors, and build tools (npm, Webpack, Vite).
• Strong understanding of Section 508 / WCAG accessibility standards and testing.
• Experience with Drupal theming (Twig) or other CMS front ends.
• Experience with UX/UI design tools and analytics.
• Basic PHP knowledge.
• Experience in federal or government web environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain responsive, accessible user interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular
• Integrate front-end applications with back-end services through REST/JSON APIs
• Develop and maintain themes and front-end components for Drupal-based and other CMS-driven websites
• Build reusable component libraries and enforce consistent design and coding standards
• Ensure all front-end deliverables comply with Section 508 and WCAG 2.x requirements, using automated and manual accessibility testing
• Optimize page performance, cross-browser compatibility, and mobile responsiveness
• Write unit and end-to-end tests and participate in code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and security scanning
• Collaborate with back-end developers, Information Management staff, and stakeholders to translate requirements into user-friendly solutions
• Mentor junior developers and recommend front-end tools, frameworks, and best practices
• Follow documented SOPs and recommend improvements to repeatable processes
• Collaborate with Information Management staff, system developers, QA, and security teams to ensure accurate flow of data and metadata across system environments
