Qualifications

• Eight to ten or more years of hands-on FPGA development experience.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior FPGA Design Engineer to support the development of real-time 4K video and audio delivery solutions for aircraft cabin environments. This role will focus on designing complex video and audio processing pipelines, integrating high-speed interfaces, and developing efficient Verilog code for Xilinx FPGA devices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement complex video and audio processing algorithms using Verilog for Xilinx FPGA devices.
• Develop real-time video pipelines supporting 4K/UHD, HDR/SDR, scaling, color conversion, and up and down conversion.
• Implement audio processing solutions involving IEC 60958 LPCM, IEC 61937 Dolby/DTS, I2S, TDM, AES67, CobraNet, Dante, and DSP functions.
• Integrate high-speed interfaces, including PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, HDMI, and SDI.
• Support USB-based 4K video playback within an embedded aircraft cabin environment.
• Perform simulation, verification, and laboratory debugging using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and custom simulation environments.
• Partner with hardware and software teams on design partitioning, implementation planning, board bring-up, timing closure, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system architecture and FPGA requirements.
• Analyze hardware schematics to support system integration. Board design is not required.
• Integrate IP developed by other FPGA engineers while maintaining established code-reuse standards and development practices.
• Create detailed design documentation, technical specifications, and interface definitions.
• Contribute to existing projects with opportunities to lead future product-development initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Eight to ten or more years of hands-on FPGA development experience.
• Proven expertise with Xilinx FPGAs and related toolchains, including Vivado or similar development tools.
• Strong Verilog development skills with experience integrating Xilinx and third-party IP.
• Extensive experience with video interfaces and standards, including HDMI, DisplayPort, MIPI CSI-2/DSI-2, GMSL, GigE, and SDI.
• Experience integrating and customizing vendor-provided and third-party IP cores.
• Deep understanding of video and audio pipelines, including real-time 4K signal processing and digital audio-stream handling.
• Strong knowledge of high-speed digital design methods and best practices.
• Experience working with multiple clock domains, clock-domain crossings, AXI4-Stream, and AXI memory-mapped interfaces.
• Ability to maintain coherent configuration and status data across complex FPGA designs.
• Familiarity with FPGA and processor co-design, including external processors and on-die hard or soft processor architectures.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative hardware and software development environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with the Xilinx Zynq platform.
• Experience with video compression and decompression.
• Knowledge of audio resampling and manipulation techniques.
• Familiarity with Linux environments and scripting for FPGA development tools.
• Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for software and firmware development.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills and the ability to contribute across multiple technical disciplines.
