Job summary

EMCORE is seeking an FPGA Design Engineer to lead FPGA-based logic and firmware development for high-performance inertial sensing systems. You will design, verify, and implement FPGA logic and firmware, working closely with hardware, systems, and manufacturing teams to bring designs from prototype through production.

This 100% in‑office role is based at the Quartz MEMS facility in Concord, CA and may occasionally support the FOG facility in Tinley Park, IL. Expected travel <10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• 5+ years FPGA design/simulation and firmware for embedded systems.
• Proficiency in VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog.
• Experience with FPGA tools and SoC devices (Xilinx Vivado, Libero, Quartus).
• Strong embedded C/C++ development.
• Experience with signal processing and high-speed interfaces (SPI, I2C; PCIe, Ethernet).
• Ability to work independently and in teams; excellent communication.
• US work authorization without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design, verify, and implement FPGA logic and firmware.
• Architect SoC-based solutions using industry tools and simulations.
• Optimize FPGA implementations for speed, power, and resources.
• Support system integration, hardware bring-up, and testing with lab equipment.
• Develop and maintain documentation for FPGA and firmware designs.
