Job summary

VIAVI Solutions is seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer in Germantown, MD to design, verify, and optimize high-performance digital blocks for network test and measurement products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define specifications and guide the FPGA lifecycle from concept through bring-up.

You will apply Verilog/SystemVerilog for RTL, rely on EDA tools for synthesis/verification, and leverage UVM/CDV methodologies to ensure robust designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in digital FPGA design and verification.
• Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog for RTL design.
• Experience with industry-standard EDA tools for synthesis and simulation.
• Strong understanding of verification methodologies (e.g., UVM, Coverage-Driven Verification).
• Memory interfaces such as DDR, DMA, PCIe knowledge.
• Scripting with Python, Perl or Tcl.

Responsibilities

• Work on the architecture, design, and implementation of high-performance digital blocks and subsystems using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
• Collaborate closely with software, analog, and FPGA engineers to define specifications, resolve integration challenges, and ensure successful product delivery.
• Participate in all phases of the FPGA development lifecycle, from concept and specification to prototype bring-up and characterization.
• Perform synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), and power analysis to meet design constraints and optimize performance.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the digital design team.
