Job summary

VIAVI Solutions is seeking a hardware/FPGA engineer co-op to join our product development team in Germantown, MD. You will assist with circuit design, testing, troubleshooting, and HDL coding, contributing to robust, market-leading communications test equipment.

You will work closely with other engineers to create reliable solutions and gain real-world hardware experience. The role emphasizes hands-on lab work, familiarity with FPGA/CPLD logic, HDL (Verilog/VHDL), and common lab instruments,

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in EE, CS, or related field.
• Fundamental electrical engineering concepts knowledge and practices.
• Familiarity with FPGA/CPLD programmable logic using HDL (Verilog or VHDL).
• Familiarity with common lab equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, meters).
• Familiarity with schematic capture, PCB layout and simulation tools (SPICE).
• Knowledge of data communications and telecommunications protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist with circuit design and testing, troubleshooting, writing HDL code and test benches.
• Collaborate with other engineers to produce robust, market-leading solutions for communications test equipment.
• Work on a product development team to bring a product to market.
