Job summary

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at University of Colorado Boulder seeks an FPGA Design Engineer IV to lead flight digital logic development for spaceflight instruments. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Progressively responsible FPGA/ASIC development experience.
  • Hands-on FPGA design with leadership responsibilities.
  • Expert in VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog for synthesizable designs.
  • Experience with FPGA toolchains, timing analysis, and verification.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as FPGA technical lead or architect for flight instruments and spacecraft.
  • Translate mission objectives into FPGA architectures and verification strategies.
  • Maintain FPGA technical baseline including requirements, architecture, RTL, and documentation.
  • Lead architecture trade studies balancing radiation tolerance, power, and performance.
  • Lead verification activities using simulation, coverage, linting, and formal methods where applicable.
  • Hands-on hardware bring-up, environmental testing, and instrument integration.
  • Mentor engineers and students, contribute to reusable design practices.
  • Communicate risks, status, and recommendations to leadership.
