Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to advance foundation models for robotics. You will develop ML systems enabling perception, reasoning, and action in real-world environments, using open-source and internal models, with emphasis on robustness and safety.

Collaboration spans research, controls, hardware, and product teams to deploy embodiments. You will prototype, evaluate, and optimize algorithms, contribute to training workflows, and document insights for scalable

Qualifications

• 3+ years building ML models for business applications
• PhD or Master’s degree with 6+ years of applied research experience
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• 2+ years hands-on deep learning with CV, multimodal models, imitation learning/RL for robotics, or HRI
• Ability to design rigorous experiments with reproducible baselines
• Demonstrated technical contributions (publications, patents, open-source, or impactful internal systems)

Responsibilities

• Leverage state-of-the-art models for robot tasks and embodiments through fine-tuning and optimization
• Run rapid, rigorous experiments with reproducible results and solid engineering practices
• Build and run capability evaluations/benchmarks to profile performance and generalization
• Contribute to data and training workflow: dataset quality, provenance, and repeatable recipes
• Write clean, documented code and contribute to training infrastructure and APIs
• Stay current with foundation models and robotics research; prepare reports and presentations
• Collaborate with senior scientists, engineers, and leaders across teams to document best practices
