Job summary

SpruceID is hiring a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to bridge engineering and customer delivery. You will work directly with state governments to design, build, and deploy privacy-preserving identity solutions, ensuring secure, interoperable services.

This role blends hands-on software development with consulting, and you will represent the company on-site with partners. The position is fully remote within the US, focusing on architecting and delivering production systems for public sector

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience shipping backend software in statically typed languages (C#, Rust, Go, Java).
• Experience shipping modern web frontends that meet accessibility and security standards.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering efforts and deliver production systems.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and devops practices.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working directly with customers (consulting/delivery).
• Based in the US and able to engage with state government partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of products for state governments and enterprise customers.
• Collaborate with delivery leads, engineers, and UX designers to ensure successful projects.
• Translate customer requirements into technical architectures and implementations.
• Act as trusted advisor to public sector partners on standards adoption and best practices.
• Build backend services and full-stack apps meeting security, privacy, and accessibility standards.
• Contribute to Rust codebases across backend, mobile, and browser contexts.
• Manage deployments and support operations.
