Job summary

Bitmovin is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to anchor our US operations, shaping how customers use our encoding stack in production. You’ll own technical relations with marquee US media accounts and contribute code in Java/Kotlin and C++ within the Encoding team.

This greenfield role requires senior software craft, strong English, and willingness to travel to customer sites from Denver or the East Coast.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience at a senior level in Java or C++, able to contribute production code.
• 2+ years in a customer-facing technical role (solutions architect, professional services, forward deployed, or named accounts).
• Cloud experience (AWS and/or GCP), Docker, and hands-on experience running scalable distributed services.
• Strong troubleshooting on live customer systems; log analysis, network traces, and issue reproduction.
• Excellent written and verbal English with enterprise-scale communication experience.
• High autonomy: own issues end-to-end during US hours; know when to escalate.
• Based on the US East Coast or Denver, willing to travel to customer sites regularly.
• You must already have the right to work in the United States.
• Open to AI-assisted development workflows and using AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Contribute production code to the encoding stack (Java/Kotlin, C++) as a full member of the Encoding team's sprints.
• Own our US enterprise accounts technically during EU off-hours: triage and troubleshoot encoding issues.
• Debug live distributed systems under real customer pressure: log analysis, traces, reproducing issues.
• Travel to customer sites to support integrations, run technical workshops, and handle escalations.
• Feed field learnings into sprint planning and the product roadmap.
