Job summary

Kong Inc. seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to accelerate AI and API connectivity adoption for Fortune 50/500 customers. You’ll design and implement Kong-based solutions, ship automation, and migrate complex environments across cloud, hybrid, and on‑prem stacks.

You’ll collaborate with product, engineering, and leadership to deliver production-grade outcomes while shaping future directions based on field experience. This role emphasizes customer-facing delivery and high-impact results.

Qualifications

8+ years in customer-facing engineering or related roles.
Hands-on software engineering and implementation experience.
Experience with API gateways, distributed systems, or cloud-native platforms.
Proficiency in Linux, networking, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps practices.
Experience with major cloud providers including AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Responsibilities

Partner with enterprise customers to design Kong-based solutions across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments.
Lead hands-on implementation for API gateways, AI gateways, service mesh, and related connectivity tech.
Build automation frameworks, migration tooling, and reusable accelerators to speed adoption.
Drive migrations from legacy API management platforms to Kong.
Collaborate with customer developers, platform teams, and executives to solve complex challenges.
Develop production-grade code, scripts, plugins, and CI/CD integrations for engagements.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering to influence roadmap based on field learnings.
Create reusable best practices, reference architectures, and design patterns to scale delivery.
Support strategic initiatives involving AI connectivity, governance, and cloud-native transformation.
