Job summary

Sanofi in Cambridge, MA, is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist for Drug Product Development. You will advance solid dosage formulations from preclinical to scale-up and transfer to GMP manufacturing, working within a cross-functional CMC team in an AI-powered biopharma environment.

The role requires 4+ years post-degree in pharmaceutical development (Bachelor) or 2+ years (Master), with hands-on experience in tablets/capsules, dissolution studies, and enabling formulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in a related life science or engineering discipline.
• 4+ years (Bachelor) or 2+ years (Master) of hands-on product or process development experience.
• Experience with oral solid dosage formulations (tablets and capsules).
• Experience running dissolution studies (USP2/USP4/USP7) or with Pion equipment.
• Solubility testing experience.
• Industry experience preferred; academic or research experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of oral solid dosage formulations for preclinical and clinical programs.
• Execute formulation studies including excipient compatibility testing, prototype development, and optimization under guidance.
• Develop conventional and enabling formulations to address bioavailability challenges.
• Support formulation and process development activities, including granulation, blending, compression, and encapsulation.
• Apply DoE methodologies to optimize formulation and process parameters with guidance from senior scientists.
• Collaborate with the CMC team and other functions to deliver milestones.
• Work with Analytical, Biopharm, Quality, and Regulatory teams to align development strategies.
• Assist Research team to evaluate molecular attributes relevant to delivery and design.
• Author and review technical reports and batch records with guidance.
• Maintain documentation accuracy and compliance; stay updated with current literature.
• Plan and manage concurrent experiments; work as an independent contributor.
• Present internal updates within functional groups and to cross-functional teams as appropriate.
