Job summary

Lancesoft in Novi, MI is seeking a Sr. Buyer, Forgings to develop and execute strategic sourcing in a 100% onsite role, targeting cost and supply continuity.

You will lead RFQs, negotiate terms, assess supplier risk, and collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Program Management to support new launches and business objectives.

The position requires a bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of procurement experience in manufacturing; CPSM or APICS certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 5-7 years of procurement/ strategic sourcing experience in manufacturing.
• Professional certification (CPSM, CPM, APICS) preferred.
• Experience leading RFQ processes, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, technical specs, and manufacturing requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned commodities.
• Lead RFI/RFQ activities, supplier evaluations, and sourcing events.
• Analyze quotations and total cost of ownership to identify best value.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and supply agreements with suppliers.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and monitor performance.
• Lead supplier performance reviews and drive continuous improvement.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities via strategic sourcing and productivity improvements.
• Coordinate sourcing activities for new program launches with PPAP.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Finance, and PM teams.
• Assess and mitigate supplier risks related to capacity, quality, and continuity.
• Track savings and procurement metrics; report progress.
• Identify procurement process improvements to reduce inventory.
• Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and contracts.
