Job summary

Venteon is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer – Forgings to lead strategic sourcing and supplier management for forged metal components in a manufacturing setting. Ideal candidates will drive cost reductions, manage RFQ processes, and optimize supplier performance across multiple projects.

You will interpret engineering drawings and specifications, collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Finance, and travel up to 10% as needed to advance supplier readiness and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years of purchasing, procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience sourcing forgings, metal components, or other engineered manufacturing commodities preferred.
• Strong experience managing RFQ processes, supplier negotiations, and contract management activities.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
• Experience analyzing supplier quotations, cost structures, and total cost of ownership.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and new product launch processes preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives for assigned commodities to achieve cost, quality, delivery, and supply continuity objectives.
• Lead RFI/RFQ activities, supplier evaluations, competitive sourcing events, and sourcing recommendations.
• Analyze supplier quotations, manufacturing costs, and total cost of ownership to identify competitive sourcing solutions.
• Negotiate supplier pricing, commercial terms, contracts, and long-term supply agreements.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring quality, delivery, cost, and overall supplier performance.
• Lead supplier performance reviews and support corrective action and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities through strategic sourcing, VA/VE activities, benchmarking, resourcing, and productivity improvements.
• Support new product and program launches by coordinating sourcing activities, supplier readiness, PPAP requirements, and project milestones.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Finance, and Program Management teams to resolve supplier issues and support organizational objectives.
• Evaluate and mitigate supplier risks involving capacity, financial stability, quality, and continuity of supply.
• Track and report procurement activities, sourcing project savings, supplier performance metrics, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to optimize procurement processes, reduce inventory costs, and improve overall supply chain efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies, procedures, and contractual requirements.

Venteon is currently seeking an experienced Senior Buyer – Forgings to fill an opening with a leading manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, cost reduction, and supplier management, preferably with experience purchasing forgings, engineered metal components, or related manufacturing commodities.

Requirements of the Senior Buyer

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field
• Minimum 5–7 years of purchasing, procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment
• Experience sourcing forgings, metal components, or other engineered manufacturing commodities preferred
• Strong experience managing RFQ processes, supplier negotiations, and contract management activities
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing requirements

• Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPM, or APICS preferred
