Job summary

Haag is seeking a Forensic Structural Engineer III for a remote/home-office role servicing the Chicago area. The engineer will investigate structural damage from storms, disasters, defects, or incidents and produce defensible, high-quality reports.

Required: 2+ years forensic experience, PE license in Illinois or reciprocity, strong writing, and independence. Travel locally to national sites; ABET-accredited BS in Civil/Structural Eng. MS preferred; base salary in the six-figure range.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of forensic engineering experience is required; 5–10 years preferred.
• Must be able to work independently and with a cross-functional team of experts.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills are essential.
• You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Forensic investigations: conduct site inspections to determine cause, origin and extent of damage.
• Analysis & reporting: develop clear conclusions and high-quality technical reports.
• Client communication: provide timely updates to clients, contractors and stakeholders.
• Collaboration & independence: work from a home office while leveraging internal resources.
• Project ownership: drive issues to resolution and ensure deliverables meet standards.
• Continuous improvement: contribute ideas to strengthen processes and outcomes.
