Qualifications

• MD from an accredited college or university.
• Texas medical license and ABP certifications in Anatomic Pathology and Forensic Pathology (or eligible within two years).
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Performs external examinations and autopsies and prepares reports on findings.
• Interprets data from firearm and toxicology investigations to determine cause and manner of death.
• Testifies in local, state and federal court proceedings as an expert medical witness.
• Signs official documents such as death certificates.
• Photographs wounds and other physical evidence.
• Provides medical information to law enforcement, attorneys, judges, other medical professionals, relatives of deceased, news media, and the public.
• Performs related duties as required.
