Job summary

Madsen Associates is seeking a highly-motivated mid-to-senior level licensed Professional Engineer for forensic engineering across residential, commercial, industrial facilities and marine structures. You will analyze failures in mechanical equipment and building systems and author technical reports.

Responsibilities include fieldwork to document conditions, using codes to define repair scopes and perform cause/origin analyses, evaluating drawings, communicating with clients and code officials,

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
• Minimum 10 years mechanical engineering experience in design or related area.
• State of Illinois PE licensure through NCEES; multi-state registrations a plus.
• Knowledge of ICC and national building/construction codes; HVAC, boilers, and fire protection.
• Field experience and ability to provide litigation support including expert testimony.

Responsibilities

• Document as-built conditions and damage to mechanical systems from natural or human-induced events.
• Use codes and mechanical knowledge to establish repair scope and perform cause/origin analyses.
• Evaluate design drawings and documentation.
• Communicate with clients, code officials and contractors; prepare detailed reports.
• Manage multiple projects to meet deadlines and budgets.
• Develop and maintain client relationships.
• Travel as needed on short notice.
