Job summary

Thomas Young Group is seeking a Forensic Engineer in the Seattle area to join a respected firm known for structural and building system investigations. You will collaborate with top engineers on complex evaluations, while benefiting from a flexible hybrid schedule and strong mentorship.

Responsibilities include conducting forensic investigations, site inspections, material analysis, and preparing technical reports with remedial recommendations and cost opinions.

Qualifications

• Licensed P.E. (Washington) in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering.
• 5+ years of structural analysis/design experience including 1–2 years in forensic investigations.
• Strong knowledge of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood-frame systems.
• Experience with building condition assessments and post-loss evaluations.
• Deep understanding of building codes and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct forensic investigations of structural failures, envelope issues, and construction defects.
• Perform site inspections of damaged or distressed properties.
• Analyze building materials and systems to determine cause and origin.
• Prepare technical reports outlining findings, remedial recommendations, and cost opinions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide complete project solutions.
• Manage project scopes, timelines, and deliverables.
