Job summary

Metric Geo seeks a Senior Forensic Engineer (All Disciplines) to lead investigative efforts across civil and structural projects. The role involves field investigations, analysis of drawings and specifications, and serving as the primary technical liaison with clients and contractors.

Ideal candidates will mentor junior staff, drive engagements from proposal through completion, and travel as needed within-state. Florida P.E. license required; multi-state licenses considered advantageous.

Qualifications

• Active, clean P.E. license in Florida (other active state licenses considered).
• Minimum four years of relevant design and/or forensic engineering experience.
• Demonstrated design experience within Civil or Structural disciplines.
• Experience serving as Engineer of Record on contract documents, plans, or specifications.
• Proven ability to lead a team of engineers and manage project scope, schedule, and deliverables.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, liaising directly with clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead forensic engineering activities across projects, from proposal to completion.
• Conduct field investigations, engineering calculations, design and document review.
• Observe destructive testing and evaluate drawings and specifications.

Ideal candidates will specialize in construction defect investigations and forensic investigations, with the seniority to lead teams and engagements independently.

Role Overview

The Senior Forensic Engineer will lead forensic engineering activities across a range of projects, including field investigations, engineering calculations, design and document review, observation of destructive testing, and evaluation of construction drawings and specifications. This role involves managing engagements from proposal through completion, mentoring junior engineers, and serving as the primary technical liaison with clients and contractors. Suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving and is ready to operate as a lead expert / consultant.

• Active, clean P.E. license in Florida (other active state licenses considered)
• Minimum four years of relevant design and/or forensic engineering experience
• Demonstrated design experience within their discipline (Civil or Structural)
• Experience serving as Engineer of Record on contract documents, plans, or specifications
• Proven ability to lead a team of engineers and manage project scope, schedule, and deliverables
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience liaising directly with clients
• Willingness to travel within-state, with potential for regional travel
• Prior forensic engineering experience, particularly involving property loss or similar evaluations
• Dispute and/or litigation experience
• Experience acting as a lead expert or consultant on investigations
• Fundamental knowledge of engineering analysis and building code requirements
• A collaborative, team-oriented working style with a track record of mentoring junior staff
