Job summary

Whole Foods Market is seeking a Maintenance Team Leader to manage the maintenance team at our metro food production facility in Wallingford, CT. You will oversee daily operations, safety logs, and regulatory compliance to ensure high-quality, safe production.

You will develop preventive maintenance programs, coordinate with QA and regulators, and manage budgets and inventories. Leadership and strong problem-solving skills are required, with flexibility for nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 2+ years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing environment with 12+ months supervisory experience.
• OSHA safety certification or equivalent training.
• Ability to plan and oversee maintenance projects within budget.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, parts catalogs, blueprints, and procedures.
• Experience managing relationships with contractors and equipment manufacturers.
• Familiarity with CMMS and ERP processes in a food manufacturing setting.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint; ability to learn custom applications.
• Team-oriented, self-motivated, able to work independently with limited supervision.
• Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily maintenance operations, assign tasks, and maintain safety and equipment logs.
• Ensure USDA facility maintenance compliance with safety and environmental standards.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and determine repair strategies.
• Develop preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment.
• Verify checklists for drives, motors, belts, fluids, and filters.
• Schedule activities to minimize production downtime.
• Assist in budgeting and cost estimates for repairs and replacements.
• Maintain LOTO safety adherence and PPE standards.
• Manage maintenance inventory and tools.
• Collaborate with GMP and regulatory teams to uphold safety standards.
