Job summary

Contact Government Services (CGS) is seeking a Senior FOIA Paralegal to join our Legal department in Washington, DC. The role focuses on legal review and FOIA request processing, including citing exemptions and preparing responsive productions.

Ideal candidates will have a paralegal certificate or JD (or be enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school), plus experience with eDiscovery tools such as Nuix Investigate and Relativity, and with FOIA procedures. Security clearance is attainable.

Qualifications

Requires paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study.
At least one year of litigation paralegal experience is required; trial experience is very helpful.
Experience with Nuix Investigate, Relativity, and/or other eDiscovery tools strongly desired.
Experience processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
Demonstrated knowledge of FOIA rules and exemptions; basic legal citation and legal research tools like LEXIS and Westlaw.

Responsibilities

Conduct searches and analyze results to separate non-responsive documents from responsive documents.
Screen responsive documents for privilege or FOIA exemptions.
Redact and code responsive documents.
Perform legal research and draft legal documents.
