Job summary

GFT is seeking a Chief Engineer/Group Leader to build and lead the Florida drainage and stormwater practice. The role requires coordinating with FDOT and local agencies, mentoring staff, and driving project delivery with technical excellence.

The ideal candidate will have extensive drainage design experience in Florida, a PE license, and leadership capabilities to expand the firm’s municipal market presence. The position follows a hybrid work model in Florida offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• PE license in Florida or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Lead drainage and stormwater design for roadway and infrastructure projects.
• Provide technical oversight and QA/QC for complex drainage designs and reports.
• Mentor drainage engineers and designers.
• Coordinate with FDOT, counties, and municipal agencies.
• Develop and grow Florida drainage practice including staffing and training.
• Lead business development and client meetings for proposals.
