Job summary

New Mexico State University’s Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences in Las Cruces seeks a Program Specialist Senior to support the Floriculture Program. You will coordinate education activities, lesson plans, and outreach, and assist with greenhouse operations.

You will also mentor students, coordinate the floriculture judging program and travel, network with local industry, recruit students, and work with faculty to advance departmental goals.

Qualifications

• Instruct students in floral quality evaluation and floral design.
• Coordinate floriculture judging program and team travel.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lesson plans for floral design and related courses, flower judging exercises, and order instructional supplies.
• Oversee the floriculture judging team exhibitions and fundraising projects and coordinate travel for the team.
• Network with the area floral industry, participate in student recruitment events, and assist with student outcome assessments.
• Assist the department with recruiting students to the floriculture/horticulture program.
• Participate in department activities, attend meetings, and support the Department Head as assigned.
