Job summary

The City of Wichita is seeking a General Maintenance Supervisor 2 for Flood Control and Stormwater to lead infrastructure management of levees, storm sewer networks, inlet structures, and pump stations. You will supervise teams, plan capital projects, and coordinate with engineers, consultants, and contractors to ensure safe, reliable drainage systems.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of materials, methods and practices essential to the construction, maintenance, repair, and operation of flood control structures, storm water pump stations, and drainage ways.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and precautions applicable to a maintenance operation.
• Knowledge of methods, tools, equipment, and materials used in reconstruction and maintenance.
• Knowledge of modern methods and techniques of design, construction, maintenance of public improvement projects, and environmental and regulatory compliance.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional engineering.

Responsibilities

• Plans and supervises the work of technical and non-technical employees.
• Assists with project feasibility studies; recommends action to leadership.
• Assists with planning, development, coordination, and scheduling of project work such as renewal and replacement and capital projects and related financial tasks.
• Confers with consultants, field engineers, contractors, utility companies, and suppliers of materials and equipment.
• Keeps records and prepares technical reports of work activities.
