Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Flight Software and Avionics Engineer in Houston, TX to support the Cargo Mission Contract team with space flight software and avionics for ISS, HLS, moonbase, and commercial space programs.

Responsibilities include end-to-end avionics architecture, embedded firmware, HIL testing, CI/CD, and collaboration with hardware engineers. Requires 5+ years in embedded systems, C/C++, and spaceflight experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science and electrical electronics engineering or related field.
5+ years of experience with embedded systems programming in Linux and real-time software environments; C/C++ proficiency is mandatory.
Experience with development and testing of LabVIEW applications for automated test, measurement, and control systems.
Able to solve complex problems with minimal supervision.
Experience with spaceflight or other safety-critical systems.
Experience with operating systems, file systems, and bootloaders.
Experience with Bitbucket or GitLab and Jenkins, plus Agile software development.
Familiar with containerization supporting CI pipelines on Linux.

Responsibilities

Undertake development of end-to-end avionics system architecture.
Develop schematics for power distribution, communications, and central processing or embedded systems.
Work with a team to design, develop, and test embedded flight software.
Design and build functional, efficient, dependable, secure, and maintainable software.
Collaborate with hardware engineers on board-level firmware and circuit designs.
Execute test plans in Hardware-in-the-Loop testbeds and support CI/CD initiatives.
