Job summary

Poseidon Aerospace seeks a Senior Flight Software Engineer to own major flight software architecture and implementation for autonomous cargo aircraft. You will shape timing, redundancy, and fault handling, and write substantial code validated on real hardware and simulators.

You will lead testing strategies, mentor engineers, and collaborate with avionics, GNC, and flight test teams while aligning software with DO-178C standards and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• BS in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional C or C++ in embedded, real-time, or safety-critical systems.
• Owned a flight software subsystem from architecture to fielded operation.
• Experience taking software through hardware integration and test on real vehicles.
• Led design reviews and set technical direction for other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture of major flight software subsystems: timing, partitioning, redundancy.
• Design and implement deterministic real-time embedded flight software in C++.
• Define software requirements and interfaces with avionics, GNC, and flight test; trace to tests.
• Implement GNC algorithms in flight code and verify against simulation.
• Lead test strategy across unit tests, SIL, and HIL; build telemetry and logging.
• Lead software integration on aircraft; travel to flight test site as needed.
• Set coding standards; conduct design reviews; mentor junior engineers.
