SEGULA Technologies in the FBW & Secondary Flight Control Engineering group seeks a Senior Professional, Engineering to own product and process for sustaining programs such as Challenger, Global Express and Ecojet, and to prepare them for future challenges.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with 7+ years in aerospace.
  • Direct involvement in the definition and certification of at least one FBW or Secondary Flight Control system.
  • Understanding of system definition, integration, and certification; knowledge of aircraft interfaces (electrical, hydraulic, avionics, auto-flight).

Responsibilities

  • Perform integration of the FBW & Secondary Flight Controls system on the aircraft.
  • Support development of concepts, design approach and philosophy with the Flight Control system supplier.
  • Perform/Review analysis to evaluate concepts feasibility.
  • Develop, validate and verify technical requirements of the Flight Control System.
  • Review/Prepare technical requirements and test procedures; execute test rig and/or aircraft testing; review test reports for certification.
  • Resolve problems from in-service aircraft; conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis; define and execute corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance to the ARP4754 development process; support trade-off studies and life cycle cost analyses.
  • Ensure design process and equipment implementation align with Bombardier’s requirements and standards.

Job description

The FBW & Secondary Flight Control Engineering team and the business are looking for a Senior Professional, Engineering who has product and process to ensure a sustaining program (Challenger, Global Express, Global 8000) while preparing it for the challenges and demands of the future (Ecojet).

  • Perform the integration of the FBW & Secondary Flight Controls system on the aircraft.
  • Support the development of concepts, design approach and philosophy with the Flight Control system supplier.
  • Perform/Review analysis to evaluate concepts feasibility.
  • Develop, validate and verify technical requirements of the Flight Control System.
    • Review/Prepare technical requirements
    • Review/Prepare test procedures
    • Execute test rig and/or aircraft testing
    • Review/Prepare test reports in support of certification activities
  • Resolve problems arising from in-service aircraft.
    • Troubleshooting, root cause determination, corrective action definition and execution
  • Ensure compliance to the ARP4754 development process.
  • Support trade off studies and life cycle cost analysis for future programs.
  • Ensure the design process and the resulting equipment implementation is in line with Bombardier's requirements and standards.
Occasional trips to the Suppliers facilities and Regulatory Authorities, as well as on-site support to the Final Assembly Line (Toronto & Montreal), Completion Centers (Montreal), Flight Test Center (Wichita).
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering and have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in aerospace related field.
  • You have been directly involved in the definition and certification of at least one FBW and/or Secondary Flight Control system.
  • You possess a good understanding of all facets of system definition, integration, and certification and have a knowledge of aircraft systems and interfaces (e.g., electrical, hydraulic, avionics, auto-flight).
  • You have knowledge of Part 25 certification process.
  • You have experience in modeling and dynamic simulation of flight controls electrical and hydraulic actuators is an asset.
  • You have a working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow simulation environment.
  • You have some familiarity with other simulation environments such as ADAMS, or design tools such as CATIA would be an asset.
  • You have good knowledge of MS Office and Requirements Management tools is an asset.
  • You are fluent in both English and French.
  • You have the ability to work with limited supervision, be organized, a team player, and a self-motivated person, be Customer focused, and be able to work under pressure.
  • You must also show initiative, innovation, a strong sense of responsibility and integrity, adaptability, have good interpersonal communication skills, have a good engineering judgement, and drive for results.
